The Round-up: Menswear 2017

In recent years, menswear fashion has been going from strength to strength, with many taking a real interest into the men's fashion weeks and the street style that goes with it.

Search engine Lyst, compiles global results giving us an insight into the past year's fashion trends.

For menswear it was all about outdoor brands, as Patagonia and The North Face topped the list of the most desirable men's clothing brands in the world, with Patagonia having over 20 million searches.

Skateboarding label Palace placed in the top three fastest growing  menswears labels out there, adding to the 340% search growth in skatewear.

Other key areas within menswear were sweatpants thanks to the likes of Supreme, YEEZY and Champion. Logo's were still a hot commodity and we saw denim trends vary both here in the UK and the US - America went for the straight leg, whilst us Brits opted for the skinny leg. And finally, after Drake donned a pair of Stone Island's cargo trousers, Lyst saw over 12,000 searches for the brand in March alone.

Take a look at the top searches and what men wore in 2017:

1. Patagonia and The North Face

2. Streetwear

3. Cycling clothing

4. Pink

5. Straight leg jeans and skinny jeans

6. Sweatpants

7. Cardholders

8. Logos

9. Cargo pants

10. Rompers

11. Sneaker collaborations

Fashion 2017

As the years go on and social media continues to go from strength to strength, every day we're exposed to a whole new bunch of terminology and straight away they're adopted into our vernacular. And with fashion, this is no different.

Last year we saw certain words such as lit, slay annd basic at the forefront of fashion describing pretty much anything and everything that we were wearing the past year. And just like last year, global fashion search engine Lyst has analysed over 30,000 online articles from 100 different fashion and lifestyle publications to find the most used fashion words of the year.

Looking at the most frequently occurring combinations and using sentiments analysis to find the most popular word, they found that 'power' was at the top of the list, making it the fashion word of the year.

Power in terms of colour, silhouettes, textures and powerful statements. Fashion in 2017 took a stance and fought back to all the madness that went on over the past year.

Runners up continued on the theme of power, with 'woke' coming in second and 'statement' in third.

As for the whole list:

1. Power

2. Woke

3. Statement

4. Floral

5. Millenial

6. Extra

7. Masculine

8. Cult

9. Ugly

10. Vegan
